The Department of Mathematics provides undergraduate course with
Statistics and Physics as complementary subjects since 1967. The
department also provides complementary course for B. Sc. Physics and
Chemistry and offers an open course viz; ‘Mathematics for natural
sciences’ for fifth semester students. The sanctioned strength for B.
Sc. Mathematics is 30 with respective marginal increases.From the
beginning itself a good academic standard is maintained. Apart from
studies, the department also encourage students for extracurricular
activities, sports etc. The former principal Prof. M. Prabhakaran
(1978-86) and the present principal D. Jayaprasad are the honorable
faculty members of our department. An effective old students association
is functioning well. Many of the old students have raised the esteem of
the institution by achieving prestigious and admirable positions in
various fields.
